Workshop VŠEM: Graduate Tracking

Today's world is moving forward quickly, and we strive to keep pace not only with new trends in study programs but also with what comes after graduation. And now, what comes after graduation?

  • Next week on Tuesday 28.5.2024 at 9:00 a.m., representatives from various universities, including international ones, will meet at VŠEM to discuss opportunities, development, and employment prospects. They will gather data to understand how to best prepare their students and ensure their success in the labor market.
  • Keynote speakers will be representatives of University of Vienna Michael Hoffer and Lukas Mitterauer-Koch. Followed by representatives of Ministry of Education, Ministry of
  • Labour and Social Affairs, Centre for Higher Education Studies and more.
  • We continually strive to educate ourselves and understand how to best help students seamlessly transition into the professional world after graduating from university.

New specialized master's degree program!

It's time to share some exciting news from VŠEM with you! On May 2 2024, the National Accreditation Authority approved the implementation of a new follow-up master's degree program in Human Resources (Ing.) in both full-time and part-time study formats.

1) VŠEM is the one and only school in the Czech Republic to offer such a specialized master's degree program. The program primarily focuses on acquiring knowledge and skills in the fields of Human Resources, Sociology, and Psychology.

2) As always, we bring you unique study focuses in this program, such as: Health Psychology in Companies, Human Resources Coaching, Global HR Management, Modern Approaches to HR Management, Personnel Processes, Social Aspects of Human Resources, Leadership, Education and Development of Human Resources, and many more.

3) The program can be started from October 2024, with the deadline for submitting the eApplication for study being September 1, 2024. The program is not limited by the focus of previous (bachelor's) studies.

4) VŠEM graduates can benefit from discounted tuition fees for the academic year 2024/25 in the Standard (30,000 CZK/year) and Premium (50,000 CZK/year) price levels when continuing their studies at VŠEM. Of course, you can choose from the entire range of tuition fee levels.

5) The study advisors at the IPC VŠEM are available to assist you in setting up a suitable study schedule for your follow-up studies at VŠEM!

Why support the EU? Do we have a reason to be proud to live in Europe? Of course!   • So, what is the goal of the profile? To improve the perception of "value politics" and the European Union in the Czech Republic through communication via social media and involving influencers and their influence.
  • In general, we will focus on the perception of the EU in the Czech Republic, European elections, the climate question, the war in Ukraine, and news of this kind on social networks.
  • Registration for the event via the SIS VŠEM/Registration for presentations/PA by May 20 2024, until 11:00 a.m.
  • For participating in the event and submitting a written output (essay/application study), it is possible to earn credits for written work.
  • To be able to submit a written output, it is necessary to properly register attendance (student ID card, in the case of online events via Videoforum VŠEM).
  • Essay topic: Entrepreneurship in the EU. Application study topic: The impact of EU membership on the labor market.
  • Submission of written work subsequently via SIS VŠEM/Study forms/Repository of written works within 30 days of the lecture's realization.
  • We remind you that the essay can only be processed once during the study and only within the first year of study.

44 of our students have successfully completed their studies finished by thesis defense during final exams in dates 30. 1. 2023 & 31. 1. 2023.

  • Graduation ceremony will be held on 22. 2. 2023. Graduates will receive invitations with exact schedule via e-mail (no later than 7 days before the ceremony).
  • In case of non-attendance at the graduation ceremony, the diploma and related documents can be collected at the Information and Advice Centre of VŠEM the day(s) after the graduation ceremony takes place.

New space for students at VŠEM

  • New space for students will be open, namely the Klub VŠEM on the first underground floor (entrance from the Knihovna VŠEM (Library)), where it is possible to consume food.
  • There are also vending machines with drinks/snacks and a dispenser for the water system, which can be used to refill water in your own bottles (cold/hot).

Fundraiser for Home4Pets

Traditionally, like every year, during this month you have the opportunity to participate in a charity project in cooperation with the Home4Pets shelter, which was prepared and provided by the student charity association.

  • Under the Christmas tree located in the VŠEM Library, you can bring material gifts in the form of litter and quality cat food, treats, beds, collars and leashes, or toys.
  • You can bring gifts from 22/12/2022 to 15/1/2023.

How to avoid spreading of coronavirus

With reference to recommendation of Czech Ministry of Health, we ask all students who arrived from the areas affected by coronavirus COVID-19 (especially north of Italy, Iran, China, South Korea) to contact any health professional or local hygienic station and to avoid visiting the VŠEM building as this may put other students and employees at health risk.

Conference "Education Co-operation between Europe and China" at VŠEM

We would like to invite you to a conference "Education Co-operation between Europe and China", which will take place at VŠEM on 28th March 2019 from 15:00 until 18:00 pm. The conference will be held in English language with simultaneous Chinese interpretation.

Please note, that from 1st May 2018 the office hours of the Information and Advisory Centre were changed:

  • The Information and Advisory Centre is opened on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday (12:00 - 17:00).

Movie Night

The University of Economics and Management VŠEM invites you to the historically first Movie Night at VŠEM!

  • The movie, that will be projected in English language is called "The True Cost", the documentary movie about clothes, which we all wear; about people, who produduce it and the impact of clothing industry on today's world.

Congratulations to all graduates

New café "Tichá kavárna" VŠEM

From January 2018, VŠEM is with its café the first branch of Tichá kavárna ("silent café") in Prague!

  • "Tichá kavárna" is a project of café with the deaf bartenders, where the profit from its business is used purely for its further development and for the support of services for deaf people.
  • Students can look forward for the popular and charismatic bartender, who will prepere cup of coffee according to their wish in the 2nd floor of VŠEM building.
  • Moreover, every customer can have a good feeling, that he/she supported the project and at the same time he/she has the chance to learn the sign language.

 

Student conference Entrepreneurial Spirit V

Entrepreneurial spirit is a conference held every year by students of the University of Economics and Management. We invite students of all study programs (Bc., Ing., MBA, Ph.D.) to submit proposals for contributions to the fourth annual student conference devoted to contemporary trends and innovations in business.

ECDL testing at VŠEM

VŠEM has since January 2017 accredited testing room for ECDL testing (Core/Advanced).

  • The guarantor of the quality of education according to ECDL syllabus is Ing. Milan Riha, Ph.D., longtime tester ECDL (CZT0596) with full accreditation of all available ECDL modules.
  • Testing is open to the public, with the condition of fullfiled studies or lecturing on High School or College.
  • Price ECDL testing for VŠEM students and graduates is set regarding to the price level.
  • The nearest term of testing is February 22nd, 2017 from 9:00 pm.

Days of science VŠEM (21.2.2017)

Days of science VŠEM will be held nn February 21st, 2017 from 17:00 pm. Students of all study programs are cordially invited.

  • Within days of science will be presented development and research projects currently implemented at VŠEM.
  • Approaches to solving projects, background information and examples of work with data and results will be presented.
  • Opportunity for the students to participate on projects realization and to obtain information for their written work or practice in this area.

Graduation ceremony

Graduation ceremony will be held on 21.st of September and 23.rd of September in the Auditorium maximum of the University of Economics and Management. Diplomas will receive 140 successful graduates who have properly completed their studies in June 2016.

StartUp Camp

From 11. to 14. August was held at VŠEM first year of the project StartUp Camp, which aims to provide individual mentoring for members of the StartUp VŠEM.

VŠEM student became new European champion in modern pentathlon

VŠEM student, Jan Kuf, won the gold medal at the European Championships in modern pentathlon in Sofia. Congratulations!

Corporate Management master´s degree newly accredited by ACBSP

VŠEM in 2016 successfully passed the external assessment procedures and quality evaluation by global accreditation agency Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and added new study programme under ACBSP accreditation: Corporate Management awarded by MSc.

Internationally recognized ACBSP accreditation is valid for all degree study programmes of University of Economics and Management.

European Chambers of Commerce Leaders League President visit

President of European Chambers of Commerce Leaders League Zhang Mingfei will visit University of Economics and Management on 12 of July, 2016. The main objective of the meeting is to discuss the possibilities of cooperation with chinese universities.

Filip Mikschik, founder of StartupJobs, Co-founder of Hiri.cz  and Hiri PRO, Co-founder and founder of BizITu and other projects.

  • Three years ago he founded job portal StartupJobs. The platform is designed for those who are interested in working in start-ups and companies that are looking for new talent.

Defense of final thesis 2016

Oral defense of the theses will take place on 27.06. and 29.06. (Bc.), and 23.06, 28.06. and June 30, 2016 (Ing., MBA). Theses will defend 153 students.

All defense terms are open to public. To participate on student's defenses requires adequate clothing and behavior of the student.

StartUp Project RIDELO awarded within Idea of a year

StartUp VŠEM member project represented by Filip Tomáška and Adrián Páleš called Ridelo was awarded within Top 13 Ideas of 2016.

Monograph Talent Management in organizations in the Czech Republic

VŠEM Publishing published in the edition of Monograph VŠEM publication:Talent Management in organizations in the Czech Republic. The authors are Hana Urbancová, Lucie Vnoučková and Helena Smolová.

Motivational Seminar Erasmus+ Traineeship

  • The seminar is designed for students who are thinking about traineeship abroad.
  • At the seminar, students will be informed regarding basic information about the necessary administration before leaving. 
  • By doing a traineeship abroad with Erasmus+, you can improve not only your communication, language and inter-cultural skills, but also soft skills highly valued by future employers, as well as become more entrepreneurial.

Student conference Entrepreneurial spirit

The annual international student conference „Entrepreneurial spirit“ is organized by the students of University of Economics and Management. The goal of the event is to improve the presentation skills, to provide the floor for discussion and exchange of experiences, and to master the English language of the participants. Therefore, the whole programme is carried out in the English language.

VSEM Students have opprtunity of trial access to the Library of the Academy of Sciences to a database of nearly 30,000 e-books from Cambridge University Press.

CES VŠEM awarded with the financial support two projects.

  • Recommendations for funding received proposals that have met the quality requirements.
  • The process of evaluation was careed out by the evaluation committee, composed of five people, including three external evaluators.

Graduation ceremony (February 24, 2016)

A graduation ceremony will be held in the Auditorium Maximum of the University of Economics and Management where diplomas will receive 60 successful graduates who have properly completed their studies in January 2016.

Seminar Erasmus+

  • The seminar is designed for students who are thinking about leaving to study abroad internship.
  • At the seminar, students will be informed regarding basic information about the necessary administration before leaving. You also have the option to ask for details and discuss your study abroad plan with Institutional Coordinator Erasmus +.
  • The seminar will be held on February 22, 2016 at 12:30 pm in room 203.

Days of Science VSEM will be held from 5 p.m. on November 24, 2016. Within days of science will be presented development and research projects currently implemented at VSEM. Invitation is open to those, who are interested in approaches to solving projects, background information and examples of work with data and results.

Lecture on the theme "Education and dialogue have changed - new effects technology" took place on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016.

Vice-Rector VŠEM elected as secretary of ACBSP Region 8

Vice-Rector VŠEM for development and International relations was elected as Secretary of Region 8 ACBSP.

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) is a leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence.

The association embraces the virtues of teaching excellence and emphasizes to students that it is essential to learn how to learn.

Vocational Courses at University of Economics and Management

Vocational courses in the social sciences (economics, political science, sociology, psychology, management, marketing, law, finance, tax, accounting, and human resources) are now open to the public free of charge.

VSEM Vocational courses starting from January 2016 are aimed at personnel management and work psychology.

Preparation for graduation

University of Economics and Management is organizing courses for secundary students. Courses are focused on preparation for graduation from Mathematics. Courses are implemented on the ground of VSEM and are divided into 12 separate courses. On-line courses are also available.

Intensive courses of Czech for beginners

University of Economics and Management offers a year-long intensive Czech language course for foreigners within lifelong learning programs. The course is designed for beginners who want to study at a university in the Czech Republic, but the language barrier is in their way from doing so.

Publications VSEM: Competitiveness of the Czech Republic

The publication summarizes key areas of development of the Czech Republic reflected in quantitative indicators. The publication focuses on the presentation of statistical indicators monitored in time series, illustrating given thematic area.

StartUP VŠEM endorses starting entrepreneurs

StartUP VŠEM launches competition open to all who have an interesting business idea or project and who need to support both financially and professionally.

  • Competition is open for both individuals and groups.
  • It´s possible to enter the competititon with every business plan, idea for business development or project for investors which has not been yet realized.
  • Submitted projects will receive not only the feedback from the experts present, but also the possibility of obtaining an initial investment.
