English Language Test

English is a foreign language which is compulsory for all the students of every study programme of VSEM
All the applicants of the follow-up Master’s study programme have to pass the English language test. The aim of the test is to prove that the applicant is able to work independently with an English text, i.e. to answer correctly 4 questions following the test proving the applicant understands the main ideas of the text, for more information see English language sample test (PDF format). There are also similar texts available at OECD Observer.

How foreign languages are taught at VSEM depends on the study form (K1 / K2, P1 / P2). The English language, divided into four levels (A0, A1, A2, A3) is compulsory for all the students of VSEM.

Recognition of English within the Admission Proceedigs

It is possible for students having successfully passed the state language exam (or its international equivalent) to request for his/her language skills recognition without the necessity to take the exam at VSEM. In that case all the necessary materials have to be submitted to the Study Department.

The request has to be submitted at least 14 days before the date of the admission proceedings. The request is then subjected to the approval of the pro-rector for Study Affairs and Research.
The subject / exam will be recognized on the basis of the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR), see language exams level assessment – A1 / language exams level assessment – A2 (conditions for subject / exam recognition).
