Recognizing Classes

Recognition of study subjects/exams at other higher education institutions is subject to VSEM Internal Rules and to the Rector's ordinance. It is the Pro-Rector for Studies who, on the basis of the materials supplied by the student, finally decides whether or not the the subject/exam will be recognized by VSEM. The condition of recognition is the annotation of the subject/exam that must be identical or very similar.

The request has to be submitted before the relevant exam is taken by the student. In case the student has already failed the given exam at VSEM, it is not possible to ask for a recognition. The basic administrative conditin is to pass the admission proceedings of VSEM. An applicant may ask in advance for a possible recognition of the subjects he/she has already passed. Then, as  student of VSEM, he/she submits the request for recognition of subjects/exams through SIS VSEM/Study form/Request.

Administrative Requirements and Materials to be Added to the Request

In his/her request, the student states the study subject of VSEM he/she wants to have recognized, the name of the university/college, year of graduation. The student will be notified about the result of his/her request within 30 days after he/she submits all the necessary materials.
The materials to be submitted:
  • Annotation of the study subject describing the content and extent of the course, together with the study literature used
  • Approval of assessment of the given subject, issued by the study department of the university/college
  • Name of the teacher/examiner
Failure to submit these documents means the requirements of recognition have not been met and the request is subsequently discarded.
