Conditions and Content

The terms and conditions of the admission proceedings are set by the Act on Higher Education Institutions (identification of an applicant and verification of completed studies) as well as the requirements of individual study programs (Bc., Ing., MBA, LLP). In addition to general study qualifications (fundamental knowledge in the area of social sciences), the level of applicants’ motivation to study is primarily assessed.

Materials supplied by an applicant

An application also includes a photo of an applicant (“passport-format” photo – i.e. 170px x 132px, jpg/png format, should be sent electronically as an attachment to an E-application) as well as an officially authenticated copy of an applicant’s documents concerning the highest completed education. The whole file is to be delivered via mail, in person, or per proxy to the VSEM Study Department (an officially authenticated copy sent electronically as an attachment to an E-application is not accepted by the VSEM Study Department). Graduates of VSEM study programmes (Bc./Ing./MBA) do not have to submit any documents concerning their highest completed education.

All the attachments must be submitted within the date of the admission proceedings for the given starting date of the studies (an applicant shall state the method and date of delivery of the materials in his/her E-application). In case an applicant fails to deliver the required materials it shall be considered as a failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the admission proceedings, and his/her study application is subsequently discarded (an applicant did not meet the terms and conditions of the admission proceedings).

Content of the admission proceedings

Regarding the content, the admission proceedings do not inquire into the expertise of applicants (with the exception of those study programmes, which require fundamental expertise – see “Ing.” study programme), but mainly the motivation, the method and potential for resolving problems or situations, which might occur during the challenging university studies. Another feature which is also taken into account are the applicant’s ideas about his/her further career development, including the connection of the studies to the student’s present (part-time study programmes) or future (full-time study programmes) professional specialization.
