The College of Economics and Management provides optional, paid-for preparation courses, extra courses of foreign languages and consultations.
Preparation Courses
Preparation courses are intended for applicants wishing to grasp the basic knowledge in relevant areas before they start their studies in the given study programme of VSEM. They are opened three times per year, depending on the studies beginning date (September, January, April).
The courses are based on the study requirements of the given areas (Mathematics in Economics, Statistics in Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics). The participants are thus provided with an overall insight into the study modules taught during the 1st year of studies at VSEM.
Foreign Language Courses
There is a possibility of extra courses of the English language (a paid-for service) for students of both the full-time and the part-time study form. Form of the course (individual or in small groups), language selected, number of sessions, course days, number of students per group, price etc. is defined individually.
Consultations
Extra consultations may be arranged for both full-time and part-time students for whom, for some reason, the standard system of consultation hours at VSEM is not suitable (i.e. consultations with lecturers on workdays from 15:30 to 16:00, see the Schedule of classes and exams).
Special Consultations for Study Courses
Special consultations for study courses are intended for those students who need more practice or want to verify some points before they take the respective exam.
The requests for a consultation have to be submitted through SIS VSEM/Study form, at least 14 days in advance. In the request, the student also defines the area he/she wants to discuss. In the application form, he/she states “Special study consultation for the course XXX”, specifies the given problem areas and suggests a date of the consultation. The date of the consultation will be confirmed at least 7 prior to the consultation or an alternative date will be proposed.
The consultations are charged at CZK 1,000 per student / 60 minutes (a group of 1-4 students) or CZK 500 per student / 60 minutes (a group of 5-10 students).
Consultations for Final Exams
Special consultations for the final exams are intended for students who wish to check their knowledge in the given thematic areas of the final exams (economics, major fundamentals, and major specialization) before they take the exam. These special consultations are offered three times a year (November, February, May), always on the last Wednesday of the given month.
Registered students come up with specific problems or problem areas, which are subsequently discussed during the consultation. The consultations are charged CZK 1,000 per student / 60 minutes (a group of 1-4 students) or CZK 500 per student / 60 minutes (a group of 5-10 students).
Registration for the given special consultation is possible via SIS VSEM/Study form; a student is to state “Special consultation for final exams” and the date of the consultation (November, February, and May) in the note on the form.
