Completion and Conclusion of Studies

General guidelines for conclusion and completion of studies are set by the Internal Rules of VSEM. The dates of conclusion (examinations, seminar papers, English, final module) and completion (final examination, Bachelor/Diploma Thesis defence) depend on the student's respecting the conditions and time plan of the final exams and BT/DT defence of the given term (October, January, April). The date of conclusion and completion is thus irrespective of study group.

Conclusion of Studies

The conclusion of studies means the passes and assessment of all the intermediate exams and seminar papers according to the structure and time plan of the studies. Studies are concluded when:
  • all the exams and credits are successfully passed
  • all the assigned seminar papers are graded
  • the student successfully passes the English language test (A1 - Bc./MBA, A2 - Ing.)
  • the student completed the Final Module (Bachelor/Diploma Thesis seminar, exam preparatory seminar)

Standard and Maximal Length of Studies

Studies must be completed within the standard/maximal length of studies, according to the study agreement and depending on the mode of study.

Exceeding the Standard Length of Studies for Conclusion

In case the studies are not concluded wihtin the standard length of the given study programme (th estandard length is exceeded), the student is obliged to pay the tuition fees for every additional trimester, until the concusion of studies.

To be given the additional trimester, a request has to be submitted by the student via SIS VSEM/Study form/Request/Question (course and administration of studies) within 30 days at the latest before the date of conclusion of studies which is stated in the study agreement.

If the student passes the remaining exams (credits/semianr papers) within the prscribed period of 30 days, he/she must sent a  time plan of conclusion of studies, together with the request.

In case a student, whose studies are not concluded, does not ask for extension of the length of studies, his/her studies will be concluded by the last day of the standard period of studies / of the additional trimester.

Final Module

The Bachelor/Diploma Thesis seminar and the Examination seminar is a part of the Final Module. These semiars secify the requirements (concerning content and form) for elaborating a final paper and helps the students get familiar with the form of the final written tests and the areas exminad (final examination sample tests).

Content of the Bachelor/Diploma Thesis (BT/DT) Seminar and of the Examination Seminar

  • BT/DT proposal (structure, procedure, bibliography)
  • BT/DT requirements
  • Written final examinations
  • Oral final examinations

Completion of Studies

Completion of studies includes both conclusion of studies (exams, seminar papers, English language, Final module) and elborationand defence of Bachelor/Diploma Thesis (BT/DT). The time plan for completion of studies sets the important deadlines and conditions completion within the Bachelor's / Master's study programme.

Failure to submit the BT/DT proposal and darft version in time means the student will have to choose another topic. Failure to respect the time plan for completion of studies (conclusion, FE) means the BT/DT defence will be automatically postponed to the nearest date of completion, allowing the student to keep the chosen BT/DT topic.

The BT/DT defences take plaće during the very last week of the given month/trimester (October, January, May). The exact date is announced 30 days in advance, see SIS VSEM/Student's exams.
